During Saturday night and early Sunday morning we actually had some of the proper white stuff! The kind that covers! Very rare around these parts with being coastal, but we had a good covering of snow. Not to miss this rare opportunity I was up and out at 6.30am on Sunday morning trying to get as many photo shots as possible at some favourite local locations. I first headed to Lytham and captured Lytham Windmill and the Jetty (it was […]
I am excited to announce I have designed and had printed 2025 calendars. The Calendar features 12 images of St.Annes coastline. The calendar is A3 once opened out with plenty of room to write your important dates on. The calendar costs £10 and can be collected in person from either Warton or from the Ancient & Modern Shop on The Trescent (11 The Crescent, St.Annes FY8 1SZ), it can be delivered locally for £12 or posted out for £14.
Last month we had the most incredible display of Northern Lights I have ever witnessed. I did not think it was possible to see them like this at our latitudes. They had been forecast to be strong that evening so I headed out onto the front at St.Annes and took these images over St.Anne’s Pier. What an incredible experience to witness the Aurora shining so brightly over the Fylde Coast.
Rainbow Couple 3 June, 2024 Rainbow Couple, Lytham Last Tuesday evening I made a last minute call to go out to do some photography on Lytham front. When I arrived and parked up a rainbow was appearing. I took some shots of the rainbow over the iconic Lytham Windmill and then as I carried on I noticed people walking along the front. I also captured this couple under the rainbow. Not thinking much of it at the time and continuing taking other photos, […]
Award Winner! 3 October, 2023 Sycamore Gap Like many landscape photographers I was very sad to hear of the purposely felling of the iconic tree at Sycamore Gap. The last time aI visited this tree was with my family and I caught an image of one of my children playing under the tree. Such a mindless act that has robbed future generations of seeing this beautifully isolated tree. At the very least we have the memories and incredible photos of […]
Award Winner! 7 June, 2023 Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year 2023 Seascape Category Winner! I found out this week the amazing news that my image “Sail Free” had won the Seascape Category in the prestigious ‘Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year’ Awards! I felt very proud and honoured to win in this category, especially when I saw the quality of images and also the well established landscape photographers who had entered. Winning this kind of award gives you renewed belief […]
Long Exposure Photography, Blackpool 23 February, 2023 Long Exposure Photography Here I wanted to show you a quick behind the shot image of some long exposure photography I did over the weekend on Blackpool Beach. My main intention was to head out to North Pier prior to sunset to photograph the Starlings that put on a display before roosting under the Pier. I knew the tide would be out to enable me to get into a position I had in mind. […]
Fire sky over Lytham Windmill 5 February, 2023 Lytham Windmill Sunset I looked out of my window at home and thought the clouds looked promising prior to sunset, so I grabbed my gear and went to the neighbouring town of Lytham – it didn’t disappoint! When I arrived I met fellow local photographer Mark McNeil. We caught up and I started taking some long exposure shots. The colours started to intensify and before I knew it it had turned in to a true […]
Rossall Beach 7 January, 2023 Rossall Beach I took a trip out to Rossall Beach on The Fylde Coast. A lovely quiet spot, further up the coast from Blackpool and next-door to Fleetwood. I went knowing that the tide was high and also a big one. When I landed the waves were crashing up the stairwell. This made for a great location for some long exposure photography to capture the movement of the water.
Blackpool Photography 2 January, 2023 Blackpool Photography I decided to have a trip out to Blackpool front for some photography before sunset. It was a lovely, calm afternoon. There were some nice reflections on the beach in the pools, one which made for an interesting shot of the famous tower reflecting onto the beach. The moon was also rising in the sky, which I took advantage of for a nice alignment shot of the moon over Blackpool War Memorial. Blackpool […]
